Noble Simplicity and Quiet Grandeur.
This old boy
Ask me anything
Me? Just a Kentucky boy who's drawn to the smell of campfires, the sight of something new, the taste of chocolate, the sensation of hand holding, and the sound of some good ole front porch strummin.
bell hooks, Wounds of Passion: A Writing Life (via xuron)
bell hooks is one interesting lass. A Kentuckian, I first read her works in College, mostly her more fervent feminist works. I imagined her as an Angela Davis type; terse, outspoken, and a bit aggressive. As it happened, last year I ran into her at a bookstore in Lexington and was awestruck that she was more like my grandmother than anything else. Smaller in stature, softspoken, and she was absolutely fascinated (&spoke about at length) the verdant green asparagus at Kroger. She said she’d never seen something so green.
I miss ‘em somethin’ fierce. Keeping 35 hives for three years has left quite an impact on this ole boy. Plannin my garden today, I’m yearnin to add a hive & a coop, but alas, renting has its drawbacks.
